Oilfield accidents

The causes of oil rig accidents or those in the oil field are many. Tragically, employees suffer personal injuries and sometimes death as a result of negligence. Injuries from falls and collapsed rigs and defective products, include, but are not limited to, traumatic brain injuries and amputation or disfiguration of limbs and other body parts.

Accidents are often times due to:

  • Inadequate communication in safety procedures and training

  • Failure to comply with safety standards and procedures

  • Carelessness in training all employees correctly

  • Failure to train visitors on site

  • Not replacing or maintaining faulty equipment

  • Inadequately maintaining and inspecting equipment

  • Unsuitable construction of equipment

  • Failure to properly construct safety items such as frames, rails and steps

  • Unsuitable pipes and lines with cracks and fissures and other fluid transporation such as tanks, truck, etc

  • Improper storage of hazardous materials

  • Failure to provide correct personal protective equipment

  • Not providing correct and working fire equipment

  • Not properly citing violation

  • Improper job training
